if you air down the tires empty they ride much better, of course then you need to be able to air them back up with a load.

Does Reiser offer progressive springs as an option? That would add cost, and would cause the unladen trailer to ride a few inches higher, but wouldn't change anything about the loaded configuration. And the empty ride would be much smoother. Or if Reiser doesn't offer that option, there is probably a spring designer that could spec you a custom set-up for your trailer.

All of the companies I came across during my search use Dexter axles (excluding Sure-Trac - they make their own) and the slipper spring kit made by Dexter for their axles. I hadn't seen that offered as an option through any of the dealers. I think if I have any long unloaded trips to make in the future I'll just air down the tires till I get to where I need to pick up the load. I figure that will help.

Finding a place to air up shouldn't be any more difficult than finding gasoline.

Know some people do like them on equipment trailers but my Load Trail 20ft tilt bed has 2 Dexter 7k TorFlex axles. Rides very nice empty, just have to make sure that the trailer rides level when loaded so you get even loading on the axles.

Have Haulmark car hauler with the 5K TorFlex and use it on long trips and it rides nice on the rough sections of I5 through California. Now the Load Trail 14k dump trailer I have has springs and it is all over the place when empty.

On the way back with about 3500lbs on the deck, it was MUCH smoother so there were no stops..

Went right by my house, I could have given you another 3000 lbs to haul my baler to ohio.

Glad the trailer is working out. I haven't decided on getting one yet. My wife wasn't so keen on the idea, but I still love her. 😄

I just keep telling myself, "Sure beats the Suretrac and PJ estimates of July." :)
I was surprised to read the PJ price you got was high... I can get a PJ here for less than what you say you paid for your trailer...

That's with a set back drop foot jack, 14K GVW, spring assist ramps, stake pockets, pressure treat deck, LED lights ect. ect...

I just checked my baler tire width side to side, 7' exact. Reiser hasn't gotten back with me.
I measured my PJ today, it measured 83-3/4" between the fenders, and with a couple bolts the fenders come right off, giving several more inches of clearance...
