You should have no problem,I use an old Ferguson two bottom that we used to pull with and 8N,I started with a L3130 that was 32hp.

Could a 45hp tractor pull a 2 bottom plow? I've never used a plow, but after reading your post I want to

Easily, we pulled a 2 bottom with a Ford 600 and 3 bottom with a Ford 841.

In addition to the earth smell, there is something mesmerizing about watching the ground being turned under revealing clean fresh earth. Also there is the satisfaction of looking back at a job well done.

I know the feeling... Nothing better for me than making hay with my '58 MF-50, an old New Idea sickle mower and a New Holland 269 small square baler. Watching the wheels on the rake go around is kinda hypnotising

Ditto plowing is absolute heaven and the older I get the more I love that experience,no pressure just plowing my corn plot for the corn burner.Money and heat grows on cornstalks!Got a little spring plowing left to do.

They say the fragrance of lavender has a calming effect on the soul. I planted quite a few lavender plants around the house...it doesn't seem to be working.:( I think the fragrance of freshly turned earth has a greater calming effect...maybe we should bottle it and sell it!:).

We live in a very stressful world, worrying about work, children, bills, retirement, and never anything positive on the news. To be able to sit on a tractor with a little smell of diesel and good ole mother earth is a way to escape the challenges of everyday life. Your mind can relax and take in the smells and beauty of your surroundings. The mind can relax with the only worry being plowing a straight line...

I don't get the same effect when brush hogging...stressed over those dang yellow devils that sting!

My L4400 is a very light weight 45 hp tractor and it will pull a 2-14 through concrete. It is 4wd and that does make a big difference in a very light tractor like mine.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only oddball who likes this kind of thing.

Running the rotary cutter is a little different. The weather is usually very hot and you do have to pay close attention, and it is usually dusty too. I don't normally look forward to it, but once I start, it is all good. I guess its like other folks have said: simple, straightforward work, the progress is easy to see, and you can put your other worries away for a bit.

I too love to plow, and don't get to do it nearly enough. I can remember long days as a kid plowing with our old 560 Farmall. The sound of the engine laboring, the smell of the freshly turned earth, the Egrets waiting for me to pass so they could feast. It all just added up to a relaxing task, even though it was slow compared to other things like disking. Every time I smell freshly turned ground it reminds me of plowing.
