A 6" bucket is great, if you have the right kind of soil, and conditions.

Clay soil with any kind of moisture in it will pack inside, and require excessive shaking, or manual unloading to get it unstuck.

I only use mine in the driest two weeks of the year, and I don't go much more than two feet deep. Otherwise, I'm much better off doing it with a trencher.

Your picture is exactly what I want to do with my bucket.

Clay is clay ... Makes even the best buckets clog up. I've often thought tappering the sides back and adding a vent hole in the bottom might help but clay, especially wet clay, just adheres and molds to anything anyhow. Always good to have a square nose shovel near by to clean the bucket

I made my bucket with the "dual taper". It tapers from top to bottom, and front to back. Which is supposed to the the best way to get a bucket to empty easily. I later found, that it also allows you to dig curves neatly, without making the trench wider. It has a single cutting edge, rather than a set of teeth, to easily make a flat bottom in the trench. And, it there is a hole in it, to allow air in.

All of that is great. But, moist clay still sticks.

Short of having someone spray it with Pam before each bite, I can't use it most of the year.

I just plan any use of the 6" bucket for the last week of July, and the first week of August. That is normally when the ground is driest here.

Last year, I finally got around to doing something I've wanted to do for years, I put drain tile in my garden. I look like Nostradamus now, as the ground is so wet no one can plant. I was able to till my garden in March this year, and I have corn that is 5+ inches high. :D
