Wayne, i've got a 455 i've had several years. They aren't very highly regarded by the guys on the chainsaw forums, but i love mine. I've cut five or six seasons' worth of firewood with it. I usually run a 20" bar, but an 18" is probably better suited to it. Did you buy yours new? You should be very happy with it ! :D

It is new, ordered it this week free shipping with a 20" bar two chains, oil, eye protection etc etc. $353. I already have two smaller saws and have always had good luck with Husqvarna so I just stay with them. We have a dealer in Manchester for parts and service, but the price of new saws there is really high.

Thats a great price ! I paid $365 for mine a few years ago with an 18 and no extras. I know who you are talking about, and i've tried to buy a saw or two there myself. I always ended up elsewhere. I find myself a Husky man too, with three Huskys to one Stihl (though Stihls are a great saw too). About a year ago i bought myself a chain grinder...... something i think anyone with more than two saws needs. I bought mine from Northern Tool, its the knock-off of the Oregon grinder...... under a hundred bucks. I highly recommend one to you..... especially if you pay someone to sharpen chains for you !

Good advice for anyone with chainsaws. I already have an Oregon and it does a nice job, will have to buy the proper grinding wheel for the new chain though.

The first item I purchased from Husqvarna was the HVT52 hover mower. It has the Honda 4.5 HP motor and I use it on the hills at our summer home. I actually hook a rope onto the handle and lower it down the hill and then pull it back up. Fun to watch, and all of the neighbors come over and sit on the porch watching and drinking my beer. Next year I will start charging for the beer. Sorry got off the story.

I tried to buy it there and they would not budge a single penny so I told him I was forced to buy it elsewhere and he just said " that's okay we and we will support the equipment"? So I buy the spare parts from him, funny. He wanted more than $450 for the 455 with an 18 inch bar, Told me he uses the MSRP and told me it was "Machine special reserved price". I just didn't want to get into the discussion over MSRP and just told him thanks for the pricing.

As for Husqvarna I have never had a single problem with any of the things I own. I think Stihl is a great saw too, and I owned one several years ago, but the problem was finding parts and service so I switched to Husqvarna because of the local dealership.

You might try a cart to pull it around if it is too heavy for your hitch.

I'm from south Texas and I can tell (from the pic's) you haven't lit your new stainless BBQ pit in a bit...:)

OBTW, nice chipper.

Kyle, how can you tell ????;)

I actually do use it in the winter, but probably only once every two weeks. There are some things you just can't cook on the electric stove ! :(

Thanks for the compliment on the chipper. I'm anxious to get the tractor plumbed to really try it out.

My husky was about 10 yrs old and the crankshaft broke (snapped off) just behind the clutch!
I contacted the Husky distributer for Canada to point out an obvious flaw in machineing (no radius at the sholder).

Now that saw was greatly underused as it was on only its 3 chain and the blade still sported the factory paint job.

I did not even hint a warrantee but they offered me a new crankshaft assembly so I also purchased a set of seals and piston rings and therefore now have a new 10 year old chainsaw!

Now that is what I call good PR!

That is great PR.

The only concern I had lately is seeing them selling in the big box stores. Many of the items I see in those types of stores are usually on the low end of the manufacturing cycle and there is little or no support from the stores themselves.

I guess it is penny wise and pound foolish.
