That tractor may be a great deal, and I thank you for finding it, but it is very big; too big.

Be sure to check the 3pt hitch, make sure it is smooth enough for you in its response. Hang some weight on it and test it.

I would have much rather buy a brand new grand L5740 with cab but I couldn't afford it, and didn't want a payment. Remember that a tractor is just the tool to run the implements and attachments, and if you spend your budget on the tractor and can't afford any implements or attachments, all your left with is a very slow toy to drive around and not get any work done. Although that can be very fun as well :D

You can always sell a used tractor for close to what you paid for it if you decide it's not a good fit for you, but if you try and do that with a new tractor, your going to lose a LOT of money. Keep that in mind.

Watch out for the 0% financing that many dealers are offering. Your not getting free financing, it's just a clever marketing scheme to make you THINK your getting free financing.

Good advice. I messed up the first two points myself.

You have to 'run the numbers' before deciding on Kubota Credit. Generally the incentive is $1000. That means that financing at 60 month, 100% LTV, % int will raise the price of the tractor $1,000. But consider the alternative.

For example. Purchase your new M5140HD with FEL, HD Bucket, QT forks for $31,395. Take 0% for 60 months, make payments of 523.25 and pay 31,395.

Use 7.9% at 60 months and make payments of 635.08, paying 38,105 for the same machine. You are NOT going to save enough paying cash to make up that difference. And you are not going to do much better than 7.9% unless you use home equity. And since most Americans that use Forumns have no equity left in their homes, well, you get the picture.;)

As Quoted above, if you go new, plan on keeping it a long time to minimize your cost.

if you know what your doing paying cash insted of kub 0% fin can work out.kub fin said i couldnt get a lone with them.so i called my banker an told them what i was doing an they said write the check.so i made a cash offer on the tractor, they took it an i saved enough to almost pay the 5yr int.

So what was the difference between the Kubota Credit financed price and the cash price?

Around 2000 more if financed at 0%,They really just tac what it would have been at a higher% on price or tractor. Im close anyways

the tractor i bought was a 2010 MX5100 HST 4x4 w/LA844 quick tatch loader final price was $26000,cash price was $24,000 delivered.so $2000 diff an they had to call kubota to accept the offer.

26,000 @ 0% for 60 = $433.33

24000 @433.33 for 60 = 3.195%

My congratulations to you if you can get that kind of rate on an equipment loan. Home equity, yes; Equipment, no. Plus the incentives are usually 1,000, not 2,000.

In any event, for the OP or anyone else getting ready to pull the trigger, run the numbers, don't go with your gut.
