I need more HP

I have a 01-4400, 4x4, hydro,R-4, loader, model 74 front blade. It has a power beyound kit and 4th & 5th scv on the back. I even built a nice cab for it, I really hate to lose that. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I have a 48 hoe but want to keep it for a bigger tractor. I am going to look at the 4320 and up. The 4400 works prefect for me but need more power and weight some times. What would be a decent price for my tractor? It has 1250 hrs on it and it vg condition. I want to brace my self before the dealer gets me.
I am going to KC tomarrow to look and use several tractors at demo day.
I am debateing on which size to get. Any ideas.

Re: I need more HP

I had a JD 4500 and also wanted more power; and a cab. I noticed that you said that you had put a cab on yours. I ended up selling my 4500 with about 800 hours on it on eBay for only about $1000 less than I paid for it and then....bought a Kubota L5030HSTC because it had all that I wanted including a cab with A/C! Every implement I own is green and my grandfather even put a sign in my barn that says in green and yellow letters "John Deere Parking Only". What's a guy to do??

Anyway, I've had 7, yes, a true 7, new JD tractors over the last 20 years. Just last week I had to tell my long time buddy and JD dealer that I had to go "orange" for the cab with A/C. He only shook his head and said that if I'd wait another couple of years that JD would have a cab in their 4XXX series tractors, but if I had to go "orange", that he had nothing bad to say about the 'bota. I respected him for that and may very well come back to "green" when those new models come out. As I said, I have about a dozen green implements! However, in the mean time, I'll have to admit that I do like this 50hp Kubota machine. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Lots of power and the quality that I've come to expect from JD. Just a thought.

Re: I need more HP

HOLD ON!! I am looking at this nice chart on the 3x20's and they sure are a bump up in Hp... Seems like you could move over to one of those and keep many of your extras. Thay look to be the same in the operator area, and your cab might fit...

Not that you wouldn't be thrilled moving up a frame size, but you at least might want to check them out...

BTW does your cab have A/C? Seems that folks around here aren't too thrilled with the A/C units on CUTs with cabs...

Re: I need more HP

Only a reply on A/C; on upper 90 degree days when the humidity is in the upper 70's, I can actually create frost on my glass. The only modification I've done was to line the underside of the plastic roof of my tractor with the "bubble wrap" type of insulation. I couldn't tell you why factories do not do that!? It cost me a whole $6 or so and my tractor will freeze you out. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: I need more HP

Good to hear it, Dargo.... Seems amazing to see the pictures of Deere CUTs in Europe with cabs, and no factory cabs here. There do seem to be some good aftermarket units...

Re: I need more HP

I may have to look ar kubota, can't hurt.
I do not have AC in my cab, I take it off in the summer, A chain hoist and 1 hour is all it takes.
I got to runa 4720 at the demo. I was impressed so say the least. hyd are faster than mine, I sure don't like deeres bucket. light and flimsy IMO. The rep told me there are cabs comming but not sure how soon, he guessed 1 to 2 years. Cabs will be built in Germany. I did like the turbo seem to have some guts while pushing dirt. I plan on waiting till spring or after new a bigger model. So I do have some time to look and price. I wonder if a 4720 will fit in my 8' tall door or kubota with cab. More later, when I remember more.

Re: I need more HP

Obviously I'm sort of partial to Deere, but my Kubota has been fine. Man, that cold A/C has spoiled me along with not having to fight the darn bugs. I don't know if you get many bugs in your neck of the woods, but we sure do here in the Ohio valley. I'll likely never go back to a tractor without a cab and A/C again. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif And, yes, my Deere dealer told me that he is hearing that all too many times to suit him.

The 50 hp version of the Kubota I bought with the cab clears the rear short (8') door to my barn by about 2". I always make sure that the door is always all the way up before I go in or out.

It sounds like what you heard about a JD cab is about the same as what I heard. I just didn't want to wait 2 more years. Oh well, it seems like the Kubota, Deere, and NH all three hold their resale value extremely well, so if I want to go back to Deere then, I can. Good luck! You may just give that ole 'bota a spin. At worse, you'll be like me and have a tractor that doesn't match any of my implements! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
