I need some help finding cheaper shipping

what implements are you ordering? You might want to ask Scott/Kristi for more of a price breakdown of shipping, since this sounds completely out of line. I just tried to order a core aerator... shipping was $660 VA->CT, which is outrageous (tractor + 3pallets cost $800 originally)... due to it being classified as "hazardous cargo" due to the sharpened tines... yeah right.

My order is pretty big, I'm looking at 7-8 pallets not including the tractor. Lets see; 4 in 1 bucket, light material bucket, post hole digger w/ 2 augers, brush cutter, mower, trencher, stump cutter, 48' power rake, cement mixer, forks, and mini-hoe. I hope this tractor last me a long time. I'm obviously making quite the investment.

If shipping is that high, why not just buy the PT trailer and go get it instead of investing the 4 or 5 grand in shipping? At least you'll have something to show for your dough after the trip.

Actually a 24' or 26' U-Haul truck costs about $1,100 one way from VA to northern CA.
That's about 2,700 miles so at 8 MPG (assuming $3 avg fuel cost) fuel would run you about another $1000.
One way plane ticket to get you out there maybe $250 to $300?

So for about $2,500 you can pick it up yourself and you get to see our great country.

Other pro's and con's:
+ You'd get to see the factory.
+ You could test drive and maybe make some last minute attachment changes after seeing/using them.
+ You'd get the "factory tour" rebate.
- You'd have to pay VA sales tax.
+ You and your new PT would be on vacation with each other for the next 2700 miles! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Plus if you convince Phil to go get some extra ettachments you guys can share the driving and some costs. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
