I need some help with a birthday project

In the kitchen we have a potato box. It doesn't have any potatoes in it though. It's full of blocks. Redwood, oak, walnut, mahogany, etc. Small chunks of wood that I had left over from projects over the years.

With all the tonka and ertl trucks and tractors inside and outside of the house on occasion we'll still find the grandkids in the kitchen stacking blocks.

We have tonka trucks and tractors that are at least thirty years old with us and most of them I picked up used at yard sales etc when my son was little. He just turned thirty three. We also have Dinky and Matchbox from the fifties. Of course now the kids sit around and talk about how much they're worth on Ebay. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But there isn't anything I've found or wanted that gives me more pleasure than the memories those toys bring back from when the kids were little. And now I get to go through it all over again.

The boards are all about two inches thick. I've got them standing on end in the garage. It'll be months before I start messing with them.

Between cutting and planing the walnut and cutting the teak I had all the effects of a severe allergy attack that evening. The teak is really tough on you. I hear it's the silicas it absorbs from the soil.

We had fun putting the blocks in the spa where the kids were playing. They'd never seen wood sink like a rock before. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
