I need to bury my oldest cat today....

We feel for you. Wife has a cat she adopted about five years ago, so Lilly is six. Found out she has early stages of renal failure when taken to the vet for being listless two years ago. Wife uses an IV bag daily to insert water into the cats neck (between the skin and body). Vet says this will extend her life; she certainly appears to be doing well so far.

Sorry to hear about Piper. He was a very good looking kitty. We have a pair of shelter cats that have become family and I hate to think about the day that I have to commit either one of them back to the Earth.

I hate losing pets. But that doesn't stop me from having them.

JD, sorry for your loss, Piper is a beautiful kitty, I am sure you will miss him a lot. I had to put down One of mine last November, and it was a very hard thing to do. We had Dillon since 1997, and he was a gentle and friendly cat.

Thank you so much to all for the kind words...I still have three other cats but he was the one who I have the most memories about...and although he was the fourth cat I have had put to sleep since 1994 it never gets any easier. I think what makes it so heartbreaking to lose a pet is they, unlike the humans in our lives, love us unconditionally and without reservation

Bill, when I first read (mis-read) the title to your thread, I thought you said you needed to bury your oldest car.:confused2: I was gonna tell you that I know just how you feel, but then I opened the thread and saw you were talking about your pretty little kitty friend, Piper. I'm surely sorry for your loss. As useless as our cats are, I love them all and would really be depressed to lose any of them. Being worthless is a cat's #1 job, and teh best ones do it well.
