No question, buy the used one. I did the same thing when my wife and I went to shop for a new tractor and stumbled on a really good used one. I got the tractor and implements for less than a new tractor alone.

That used machine has a bigger body than the new one. The new one has the 3 cyl. 18 hp engine in the small body that used to hold the 15 hp 2 cyl diesel engine in the BX1500. Both of the machines you are looking @ have 3 cyl. 18 hp engines, but the bodies are different.

I also would go with the used machine. You will not take the depreciation hit that the new one would take.

Well, I guess it's my turn. I've bought 10 new ones from Barlows in the last 6 years. With new you know how it's been serviced and know the tires are probably not dry rotted and that all greaseing has been done and 0% financing is worth a couple thousand dollars in some situations but........from the info you've given I'd buy the used one, $5000 is to big of a leap in my opinion for a 200 hours machine. 200 hours to maybe 400 hours is my limit unless it's a steal so I'm not the contrarian this time. 1000 hours and I'm out.:)

Guess it's unanimous then?:) I thought someone might try to make a case for the new one, but sounds like the jury has spoken. I better drive out there asap before someone else flashes some cash at him. Thanks much everyone!

I disagree - Buy the new one, stimulate the economy, and give me the contact for the used one :)

A new 2009 BX1860, turf tires and 54" mower, 0 down and 60 payments of maybe $180/month for 60 months...~$10,800 total.
---OR----
1*2002 BX1800, 205 hours, used only for suburban mowing, looks like new, with turf tires and 54" mower for $5700 (I can pay cash).
:)
I* vote for thisn.

I concur with Shawn,
1* buy the used and then you'r more than half way there to be in the LB club, he's got 3
2/3rds to be exact.

3*A used BX, with deck, in whatever condition, with 200 hours? $5700?Yes yes yes grab it while its hot.

No brainer. Grab that!!! Forget new.
Get it before it gets away.

Gee, buy the used, for that price you can't go wrong and remember no payments! With those little hours that tractor is not even beginning to break in yet.

It's not every day that a deal like this falls into ones lap.

USED! Save the xtra dough
certainly

The seat is way better on the 1860, but its not worth $5000! Get the used, change the seat if needed.

The new tractor might look a little nicer, and has a few nice upgrades, but performance wise, its probably a wash. If it was a less then $2000 difference, I might buy the new, but for the +$5000 difference, I think you could find something else to use your money on.
I agree with you .

I stumbeled onto 2 BX1500 tractors The deal was so good and I couldn't make up my mind between the new one and the used one so i took them both.

5*The i800 is the same as the 1830 and is the same size as his BX25.
7*Correct the 1860 and the BX1500 are the same size tractors and are smaller than his BX25 or my BX23.
9*Correct again .

14*It sure does appear so.
16*I'd say so.
18*I'd put a rush on that.

Ha, nope, she's a "one owner", I lucked out on my wife; met her at the age of fifteen and we've been together ever since; in our sixties now. She can be very much the lady, but likes tractors, motorcycles, ATV's/RUV's, deer hunting and is a great cook:thumbsup:

Screw it, the guy is playing games now. When I called back yesterday to go pick it up he told me and that he had just gotten an offer from a buyer who was offering him more money. I said "I thought we had a deal", and he said "well, things have changed".

I think I'm gonna order a new 1860 from Brady Barlow when he's back in the office Monday morning.
