I just took delivery of my Kubota B2910. In order to run rear tire chains in the winter I will need to find rear tire spacers that are about 1 inch thick so the chains dont rub my inner fenders. I know some fellas who have made their own. Does anyone know where I can buy spacers? Thanks for the info. Glenn

Don't most tractors have some provision to widen the stance of the rear wheels, either adjustable wheels, or in the case of the old Yanmars, reversing the wheels to gain a few inches of additional width?

kubotachief,

Which tires do you have on your B2910? I've got R4's on mine, I bought my tire chains from tirechains.com and they work without hitting the fenders.

My understanding is that the turf tires have clearance problems. I'm not sure about the Ag's.

In response to another reply, the rear tires on the B2710/2910/7800 cannot be reverse mounted to gain a wider stance.

You are correct. Their is no adjustment on the axels. I have the r-4 also. The chains are the heavy ones around 3/8th of an inch thick with crosslinks every two links. The fella I bought them from got them tirechain.com also but he informed me that they rubbed and he was having someone make him spacers. I havent gotten the chains yet since I just sent him the money. Maybee they will be ok but Im going on what he said. My dealer also told me some will rub??? Thanks for the replies.

Hmmmm....I'd assume we have the same chains. Mine are also the 2-link variety and pretty heavy. Maybe he didn't take out the slack after he put them on.

If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it until you get the chains and try it yourself.

Hi,

Like Rick, I also have chains I got from tirechains.com on the R4s of my B2910.

The cross links are 3/8 and they are 2-link chains. No problem with rubbing, but it is close.

Here is what they look like...I really like the tensioners I got from the same place. I think I remember some people saying that they like to run their chains loose, with the cross chains flopping around a bit. I don't think you could do that with the B2910 without having wheel spacers. But if you keep the chains tight, there does not seem to be a problem with R4s.

I like the looks of of the tensioners. I think I need to get a set of those. Ill get the chains and see how they fit. Do you have your r4 tires loaded? If so are you running the 20psi air pressure in them or did you drop it down to keep the tire more flat on the ground and take the rounded tread out of it? How do you like the 2910? I am really impressed with it. What a machine!

Hi,

Yes the rears are filled with WW fluid and the fronts are foam filled. I am running 12 psi in the rears last time I checked.

I think the B2910 is the perfect machine for me on 3.7 acres. A real worker...and doesn't even expect a beer at the end of the day! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Expect I will have at least 200 hours on the hour meter by the time the first anniversity rolls around...

I used to have a tg2160 and when I used chains on either my turf or my ags I found that the chains rubbed against the hst dip stick. I could make the chains work by keeping the inner connection very loose and using a spreader (very tight) on the outside.
After all the snow we had this winter and me worrying about the chains ruining the dip stick I sent a note to Kubota and they sent me the part number for a spacer for my machine. I knocked out the old tire lugs and installed new longer ones then installed the 5/8" steel spacer bewteen the hub and the rim. Worked slick and was under $100 for everything. When I traded it off this spring for a 2200 my dealer even gave me credit for the spacers.
