Buying Advice I pulled the trigger!

Purchased a new Mahindra 6065 4WD! Seems to be beefy and sturdy like my other tractor. Ready to put it through the test!

I remember reading some members here had a hard time getting parts.. mahindra makes their own engines..

There may be a Mahindra about the same size in our future. Would love to hear your experiences. Not worried about the parts issue since the dealer is 5 miles away and has a super rep... No decision has been as yet but that's the way we are leaning. We plan to keep the Massey and add a larger machine to help us deal with the 200+ acres we have to maintain.

Appreciate the heads up @radios1. We will look into that as part of our buy decision as we have no urgency here. We are still in the thinking stage and not convinced we need bigger. You know what the say about boys and toys - that the only difference between a man and a boy is the size of his toy? We like the idea of bigger.. Do we need bigger? Not really. Or better said, not yet.

they advertise as the largest tractor manufacturer in the world, course i don't know the fine print about how readily available their parts all are in this country. i think most of it is geographic though.

around here most brands just don't have the history or a foothold. i have deere and kubota dealers at 10 miles with large inventories and parts rooms and service areas. both have been around for some time. at 30 or 40 miles away there is a similarly equipped new holland dealer. there's a few fledgeling mahindra, tym, kioti, massey, and even one branson dealer within an hour, but most of them seem to operate their tractor operations - including their parts inventory out of an area not much larger than a woodshed. i think as long as you have a competent dealer in your area for whatever you purchase you will be supported fine.

This is my third Mahindra! Front wheel drive then stepped up to 4WD and now a 4WD with more power. No problems with any of them that was Mahindra’s fault. Strong, tough tractors!

You know, it doesn’t take much searching to find posts like “My uncle bought one of them green ones and it stayed in the shop. I’ll never buy one of them.” Or.....”Those orange tractors just ain’t the same, look at Google reviews and stay away!” Or.....”Those blue ones have too much plastic, I’d tear it up in a week!” I guess my point is that every company makes a few “bad ones” and you should take it with a grain of salt. Besides, if there were the perfect tractor, wouldn’t someone know about it by now? I’ve been in the automobile business over thirty years and by far the comment I mostly hear is “I had a friend who owned one of those cars and had nothing but problems. I’ll never get one of those.” Then I always ask “do you know about the other million that were made? Did those have the same problems?” I’ve had Mahindra’s over twenty years with great success and very minor issues. Minor as in a cracked fuel line for under $20.00. I’m happy with my purchase and wanted to share it with you folks. Hopefully no one takes offense to this post, my goal was to let everyone know that most of us know problems happen when you include thousand of moving parts, that’s why mechanics are always employed. However, if the seat time is longer than the down time then you’re probably okay!

We have two Mahindra dealers within 60 miles of me. My son owns one. One dealer has a bad rep and the other a great one. The great one has a large shop. He has service people and stocks parts. He handles other equipment and sales used equipment. I don't think they just replace engines.

We all buy the brand that suits us best. I've had Fords, Massey Harris, Massey Ferguson and Deere. My 5310 that I recently traded was the best tractor I've ever had thus the reason for a new green one. Enjoy yours and let negative comments slide. I wouldn't own a Chevy, Ford or Dodge pickup but that's just me. You do you and have fun. Go get some mud on that thing. It hurts my eyes.
