hey congrat on your new machine. like the others, all my other vehicles are older & well kept. bought my tractor in '08 & like you, couldn't do without it. cost more that what i paid for my 127 acre mt top farm...but purchased that many yrs ago @ $215/acre. times change, but you'll find your need & feelings for your new machine will stay the same. time to celebrate! :cloud9:

Amen to that. I replaced the old two wheel drive with no loader a year ago with the signature tractors and a bush hog and grapple and post hole digger and scraper etc and began clearing about 18 acres of 20 year growth and also working on a building. My joint movement has improved tremendously, I feel better even though I was in what would be considered good health I was feeling my age. I am not as strong or as fast as the boys but I out work them and feel better.

I grew up around machinery so that would be a factor in my success. A city guy moved to the country with first tractor at advanced years had better be careful. He has to learn what can be done and think things through more so it could get frustrating for a while. But with my previous farm experience, I was rather finally getting to enjoy the tractor I did not have enough sense to justify years earlier and it all came pretty naturally. But for crying out loud if you think you want a tractor you are not crazy.

Beats the heck out of going to the wellness center and pumping iron and doing the treadmill thing.

The chores you can do with a tractor, a fel ,and other empliments are endless , and it makes life so much easier. At my age it makes it possible to still live in our country home that we love so much .

Never thought about it like that but after a hard weekend at the farm, I feel tired and sore- the good kind like I just worked out at the gym. Only better!
