If you have that kind of commercial operation, why would you want to go to great expense to mount everything on the truck, when you could set up a production line in the yard far cheaper? Do they take that beast out in the woods, rather than trucking logs to their yard? Why?

This would be the dream machine for a gipsy logger with no land or equipment yard, but where is there an outfit like that which could afford a monster like this?

I can only imagine the cost, if I was to guess I bet $200,000+. There is 100k in the truck alone.

I'd say $200,000 wouldnt even buy the truck, I'd bet closer to $600K+. I work in the heavy equipment industry, you wouldn't believe what $200K WONT buy you now.

Here we have lots of land, and in many areas still lots of standing lumber. Many parts of Europe are low on both, so the machine $ #'s may start to make sense over there - perhaps even more so with Putin turning off the gas regularily....

UR - I shouldn't even joke.... but at the rate the EPA is empire building, it may not be long before your friends get a knock at the door....... gotta keep the world safe from the evils of woodsmoke !

I think (assumed) the truck was used. Thats what I based my 100K on. A Used Scania P380 8x4 SCANIA P 380 8x4 REAR TIPPER PERFECT! tipper from Poland, sale, buy, price, AU5944

That doesnt leave a lot to build the processor section Ill agree. I think my 100k estimate on that part was way off considering that a "typical" medium sized standalone processor like a typical firewood guy would use is over $50k and the small ones are $20. Austrian tradesmen and engineers dont work that cheap lol.

I think the idea here is to be a mobile contractor. Ie: you haul wood from your own private woodlot and contract this company to process it in your yard.

Or

If you were a wood contractor you could contract these guys to come and process your extra wood. Here some of the larger woods contractors have a processor out back to run firewood through. This would save on the manpower of having your own firewood crew and processor. Call this truck in once a month.

Maybe a member from Europe (Germany in particular seems to have the most videos) can comment if this contract firewood processing is a thing or not.

Fire wood is a valuable commodity in Europe... they also have super efficient tile stoves... aka Russian Stoves, Kachelofen, etc...

People with woodlands are sitting pretty... I know a retired man with a couple of acres and he supplemented his pension with firewood sales by simply selling the rights to a fallen tree or standing tree...

People have long memories over there and don't fool around with keeping warm and cooking...

It looks like there is more than one of those firewood making beasts!! Side note, check out the sweet, tarped pile of round bailed spits near the end of the vid.. a nice compact way to store a lot of wood!
