Got to go last night. Probably the last time for the year, as while there was 10-11" of good ice yesterday, it's darn near 50 degrees today, windy, same for tomorrow with rain. A lake that was similar yesterday already has a couple inches of water on it today. Oh well, at least I got to go 4 times this year. Didn't get to go to my childhood lake for only the 2nd time in the past 50ish years. No safe ice.
Here's a picture of one of my favorite things to do (no prostitute jokes please).
Ice fishing, February 15, 2022.
About 8:05pm.
Air temp 32 degrees.
Wind 15-20mph.
Small lake in La Porte Co, In.
Warm and toasty in my flannel lined jeans, t-shirt, carhart coveralls, Striker floating ice fishing jacket, felt liner waterproof boot. No gloves. Didn't need them. I just reach into the holes to clear the ice or grab a loose fish. Air dried them real fast.
4 bluegill and one crappie. Enough for dinner for my wife and I later in the week.
