I Swear I Know How To Read Tire Pressure But....

I recently put air into my back tires on my TC30. They are filled with beet juice, and when the stem is at 12, the juice is higher that the base of the valve stem. -normal from what I read. I didn't want to ruin a valve guage, so I did it by eye- looking for the side wall to straighten- taking out the squat that was looking bad on one of the tires. It took very little air (low pressure) to get it right. First time in 2 years I put air in.

Beet juice?! Wow, that's a new one! I swear, every time I think I've heard it all...

Rimguard is a product derived from beet processing. It is one of the more common fluids to fill tires with, as it weighs more than water or calcium cloride, is not toxic or corrosive, and can be put into tubeless tires.

Rim Guard - Liquid Tire Ballast

Ya ain't too old to learn new tricks :)

As previously stated, special gauges designed for liquid filled tires are available and be had for the price of a fancy, frou-frou coffee drink. You can usually find them next to all the other air pressure gauges in any well equipped hardware store. Using one of them is much less hassle than moving the tractor around, trying to get the valve stem at the 12:00 position.

I think Rim-Guard is about the same weight as calcium chloride +/- 1/2 lb somewhere around 12-13 pounds to the gallon.

Max inflation pressures for 11.2 x 24 R-1 tires are 218 psi for 4 ply, 26 psi for 6 ply and 36 psi for 8 ply tires. At 18 psi your 2 rear tires have more than enough capacity to handle the entire weight of your tractor. At full 3 point lift load capacity it would take 24 psi to stay within the tire load rating.

LOL, well, I don't drink coffee or "frou-frous", heck, I'm too poor for beer right now!

Ummm, MHarryE, did you mean to type 28 psi for the 4 ply? Or 21? I am pretty sure my gauge doesn't go up to 218....

Read the tire pressure on the tire itself and adjust from there. I think mine were 12-14 lb of pressure if memory serves- Surprised how low. My pick up runs at 80lbs and my cars at 32lbs. Mine are - R1 Ag tires. Look at this calculator: Tire Pressure
and just info: Databook: Agriculture - Titan International

When I was working in an automobile tire dealership, I know at least one manufacturer that said to never run a tire with pressure less than 80% of the pressure shown on the sidewall; i.e., if it shows 80 psi, you could go as low as 64 psi, for one that showed 32 psi, you could go as low as 25 psi. But that does not hold with tractor tires. As others have said, 10 to 12 psi is common. And I always checked mine with the valve stem at the 12 o'clock position.

Not only put valve stem at top but if you give it a shot of air to clear the remaining liquid from the valve stem it makes it easier as well.

Depending upon the quantity of ballast fill it is possible to still have the valve stem below the level of the liquid even if at the 12 o'clock position since the top of the tire can still be well above the stem. I am not good at drawing art but here is a depiction of this.

As Zebrafive recommended, use the special tire pressure gauges for liquid filled tires and make sure to thoroughly clean afterward. Depending upon the liquid in the tire you will regret it if you do not. (don't ask how I know)

yupp for sure!! on our backhoes/loaders we took the weight off either end and rotated tire to 12 for checks.
