I think my new neighbor will be Ok!

25 years ago, we had some folks move in across the street. They had two large dogs that managed to to nibble off the feet of my rabbits from the underside of the hutch. He came over and almost passed out when he saw 4 rabbits with out feet. He offered to pay for them. Instead we invited them over for dinner, as you might guess Rabbit for dinner.

It was a good time to get out from those rabbits and we remained friends until his death. It's how you approach folks most of the time, but not always.

The previous owner of the above said home, always had gravel washing down his drive in to the street. If I was out on my tractor, I'd grade it back up his drive. This was until he came home and accused me of "steeling his gravel!" never helped him with gravel problem after.

I'm sooooooo glad I don't live on a street. :D

I think if I had to move back in where there are streets, lot sizes, neighbors, street lights, stop signs, fences, etc - I'd probably end up in "grey bar city" pretty quick. I've become very "set in my ways" and a lot of those "ways" are not in the least PC.

Out here with my nearest neighbor being miles away - I do what I dam well please, when I want to do it, how I want to do it - you know the story. I would never be able to go back to completely civilized ways. The taste of freedom and living out here in the country is simply to sweet and intoxicating.

Its like trying to explain the feeling of riding a motorcycle. Unless you have been there with the wind in your face and your complete mortality in YOUR hands - verbal descriptions are just a poor substitute.

The guy behind me on the next street has been great. He loaned me a FEL tractor that had less than 3 hours on it. His kids decided to cut through my property to get to the city owned property without my permission (he told them to ask). I walked back to check on my blueberry bushes to find that someone ran 3 or 4 ATVs across them. They said they thought they were just wild brush growing. I told him not to worry about it because I could replant them. We continue to be good neighbors.

I live on the farm that has been in our family over 150 years. I knew my great grandfather. He died in the mid 60's at 94. His father purchased the farm in the 1800's. My neighbor on the south side is a local friend of the family. We've known each other since birth. My neighbors on the north side same. My neighbors across the road purchased the land from my father 25 years ago. We get along fine. I guess that could change at any time but so far so good. I know that I am blessed.

I always had good to very good neighbors except one... just a bitter guy that started drinking when his wife left him in California.

I have the best WA neighbors...... I had some trees that had to come out and not a clue who to call.

I asked my retired neighbors up the road and he gave me the name of a tree guy in the next county... I called and was offered a fair price for excellent work... my Olympia neighbors heat year round with wood... mentioned to the tree guy I was going to ask if my neighbors would like some wood... the tree guy cut it all up in nice rounds and my neighbor and his wife couldn't have been happier.

It was a win/win all around... being the last house on a private road and being somewhat secluded having a neighbor I can call or one that will let me know if there is storm damage in priceless...

Neighbor owns the road which is gravel... every year I have rock delivered and fill the low spots... he said in 40 years no one has ever helped with the road nor has he asked... but getting up in years the assistance is much appreciated.

They are in their 80's and talk about moving to town... I am sure going to miss them if they move!

I can’t see another house from mine. North of me is farm land. South and east lots of trees so I can’t see neighbors. West is an open “lot” (15 acres or so). Then the highway. Someone bought the 15 acres 1.5 yrs ago. They seem nice. They say they are going to build a house. No surveyor or equipment seen yet. They did have power run to the barn on the property.
