I think the L2800 is the way to go, any tips?

After looking at nearly everything out there from Jinma, to Mahindra, to Branson/Century, to New Holland, I came back to Kubota to see what I can get.

Well now I have kicked around every size and style out there from the BX to a used L4310. To refresh your memory, I have about 12 acres, half hilly woods, half flat pasture, 1400 ft of private gravel road. I want a tractor for brush hog, box blade and landscaping.

Wanted a back hoe but cannot justify the price. Some suggested a B7510 or B3030 so I looked at them both plus a B7800 and concluded that the B7510 is too small. The B3030, too expensive but the B7800 was a pretty good fit. Then I looked at the L3400. Only $1300 more more than the B7800 but 500lbs heavier. Then I looked at the L2800, at only a few hundred $$ more than the B7800 and still 500lbs heavier, I thought, "This is a really good fit."

I would like the L3400 but the extra $1000 could go toward a brush hog and box blade.

So here is what I'm looking at buying, any tips, warnings are appreciated.

L2800HST, R4 tires, LA463 FEL: $16300
Bush Hog 5 ft. Brush Hog SQ600 w/slip clutch: $1200
Land Pride BB1560 Box Blade/Scraper: $625
Might get a post hole Digger, Land Pride PD15 w/9" auger

I'm partial to my 7800 but I think you made a good choice. I do like the extra lift height on the FEL for the L2800.
Did you go with hydro?

I havent bought it yet but I will go HST since the DT is not synchro.

I just went through the exact same thing ...Kubota has too many tractors to choose from.

I went to the dealer one day looking at trading my B2100 for a B7800 and the salesman recommended looking at the L2800HST for only $800 more. So, I went home with brochures in hand and debated for a while. I found that I could get the L3400 for $1000 more than the L2800, man now what do I do? I called around to several dealers for prices and almost started to through a B3130 into the equation.
Thinking back to my original visit with the salesman I decided that I had to draw the line somewhere and ended up with the L2800HST. The price difference between the B7800-B3130 was about $3000 which is way over what I wanted to spend but when comparing tractors and prices its easy to go up a few thousand $$$$. I’m supposed to take delivery of an L2800HST on Dec.30 with 463 FEL, Woods 72” finish mower, tooth bar and 9” auger. Good luck on your decision!

I think we are coming to the same conclusions. I've been looking around, mostly at Kioti and Kubota (also JD) and I have found the Kubota L3400 is priced less than the CK30 with similar features. I was expecting the Kioti would be considerably less but this was not the case. The Kubota is priced lower in SE Texas than what you stated. Still haven't purchased, but it looks like there may be a Kubota in the future.

I am not throwing off on your dealer, but I could have bought a L3400 HST with R4 tires and 463 FEL for $ 16000. Sounds like to me your dealer could do better than that.

Might want to shop around a little more. I think you can get a 3400 for what you are getting ready to spend for a 2800 or even less! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was hoping someone would bring this up. I tend to agree. I see the Deen Implements prices. The L3400, R4, FEL was $16320 for the monthly special but I'm not sure that isnt close to cost. They only had two tractors at that price.

I will shop around and squeeze harder on the price. The price I quoted was from just going in and asking "How much for that L2800HST?"

I just bought a L3400 HST and glad I got the xtra hp, I was torn between the L3400HST/L2800 HST. Love the tractor lots. I paid a little more than the 16K but the dealer has an excellent rep, friend referred me. So a sound dealer was a concern too. I felt good about the deal he met me at 8:00 PM to pick it up. Talk about service. If you get the FEL load the tires and get some weight on the back of it ASAP. I have the loaded tires and put a box blade on it today. I really need more on there. You won't be sorry on your future purchase.

Did you get the R4 tires too? For some reason, R4 tires are $500 or so extra on these models. Go figure.

Did you get the R4 tires and does $16K+ include the water in the tires?
