3-Point Hitch I thought 3 point specs were universal

Roy, Before you get a bunch of BX1850/60 guys ranting that their 3 pt is NOT limited Cat 1, I'll merely say I had a BX1860 so I know the 3 pt system and it's "limitations", if you will. I know that in most cases, XB sized implements simply fit it better and work better. XB is a marketing designation that meant Cat 1 implements with spacing and other aspects more in keeping with limited Cat 1 or Cat 0 sizings.

However, technically, Kubota never stated or states that the BX1850/60 three points are "limited" cat 1. They call them Cat 1. Period.

Here's the brochure:Powered by Google Docs

This is a fuzzy area, that much I will grant you.

BP,
I know you sold your BX18** but by being a Cat 1 / Cat 0 combination. The top link pins on a Cat 1 are larger in diameter than the Cat 0. My BX1850 has the smaller (I think 5/8" diameter) Vs the 3/4" diameter (I think) on the Cat 1. If you do a lot of digging and find the actual SAE / ISO 3PH specs the BX18** is close to Cat 1 but is not a complete true Cat 1.

This being said, IT will accept any Cat 1 implement.

There is also an SAE ? ISO spec for the attachment points on the implements The biggest variable is the location of the top link attachment point. From memory I believe it can be moved up and down 4" in respect to the main lift arm pins and still be within spec. This will make using quick hitches a hit or miss.

Cat 2 & Cat 3 did not have this discrepency in there specs so quick hitches are typically a lot more user friendly.

The implement end is what is defined by the Cat specs. The tractor end is not. Top links among lots of brands of tractors are not interchangable, thats why there is a bracket to keep it on the machine at all times.

But the implement end doesn't always follow the cat specs either otherwise quick hitches would always work perfectly with them

Quick hitches often won't work with implements that fall within spec either. The nature of the hitch is that it fits less than perfect implements so it was never a big problem before quick hitches.

It was so much better than hitching horses people didn't mind!

I'd gladly hitch my horses before switching implements on my 3 point any day, rofl.

Including harness? I know somedays its a pain, I have a 3 point mower conditioner than weighs a few thousand pounds. You have to hit it just right since my quick release lower link ends are rusted in place. I also don't have external 3 point controls on my fender so its a lot of climbing. Somedays it goes first try, don't even get out of cab and ends are hooked. Other days its a 30 min battle. My electronic clutch is worn too so I don't have creep most of the time, just on off. Should replace that sensor.

Yes including harness, my boys are very cooperative and always anxious to get hooked up.

My sisters percheron is always anxious to get hooked up but he doesn't like standing around. He used to be known for heading home if you didn't keep him busy twitching logs. Home was 2 km away!

I'm not a horse person so I'm biased, I like 3 point hitch stuff. I'm quite happy to leave the horses in the field busy keeping things trimmed!
