An elderly couple had just learned how to send text messages on their cell phones. The wife was a romantic type and the husband was more of a no-nonsense guy.
One afternoon the wife went out to meet a friend for coffee. She decided to send her husband a romantic text message and she wrote:
"If you are sleeping, send me your dreams.
If you are laughing, send me your smile.
If you are eating, send me a bite.
If you are drinking, send me a sip.
If you are crying, send me your tears.
I love you."
The husband text back to her: "I'm on the toilet.
Please advise."

, I won't even give any money for food. However, I will go and buy them something to eat and have many times

Yeah.....good luck with that.

I got hit at a McD's for money to buy "something to eat".....and I don't give money out either......so I took the guy in line with me, ordered and paid for a meal for him, took mine and when out to sit down. I watched as he tried to return the meal and get "his money back".

It takes all kinds.

Couple years ago at Xmas a local station suggested keeping cans of food and soups for hand outs to the street people.
The idea basically flopped as most would toss the cans back.
All they wanted was cash.

My solution is to tell them that they are on my side of the street and to bugger off,

My 89 year old mom liked it too. I had to write it down so she could tell it to her niece.

My Mom, bless her heart, still believes she can use a PC. :laughing: She does okay with email, so it was an easy copy/paste.

My mom has never used one and doesn't want to. We just hold it so she can see or read it to her. She still likes shelling black eyed peas, cutting up okra, and pulling grass from the flower beds, ect. She is a blessing to have with us.

We are a bit of a far-flung family. I have one brother who lives in the same town as Mom, Dad passed away years ago, the other brother and sister live in Kansas and Colorado, and I'm in Maine. That she can use email is really nice, plus lots of phone calls.

She still drives and gets around town for shopping, doctor's appts. and the like. Picking up and retaining new skills such as using a PC is a challenge though. It is too abstract for her I think is the problem. I guess that comes with age for many.
