A fellow who helped us haying last year had travelled out to vancouver to help his brother move back to Nova Scotia (over 3000 miles/5000 kms).

The moving van they reserved wasn't there when they went to move so they bought an old dump truck. I think they made it a day before the first break down, ended up with containers of water to dump in the thing repeatedly and oil etc.

They eventually made it back but the rear axle exploded near home. The motor got removed and rebuilt and lives in his fishing boat now! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Roy I checked the distance this morning in the truck and its only 17.5 miles. Hopefully they'll have it ready so I can pick it up tommorrow morning for the return trip as winter is on its way again and its supposed to be in the 30's by the weekend. I didn't opt for the cab model so if its cold I'm sure my trip home will be slower as moving fast in cold weather makes my eyes water something fierce.

Well my baby's ready to drive home tommorrow AM they replaced every filter and fluid in it, I also had a bad battery in it that they are replacing as it kept leaking acid all over everything they checked the charging system and it all checked out properly so for now we'll assume the battery was at fault if it happens again they plan on replacing the alternator or regulator if it has one external. They don't have a total for the 50 hour service yet but its going to be somewhere in the $350. to $400. range.

I picked the tractor up and drove it back to the ranch this morning to do the 50hr service which was change all Fluids and Filters it was $322.50. I didn't beat the Norther so after my first 4 miles I stopped at Tractor supply to get a knit hat and some wire I got the wire but TSC has already put their winter clothes away here so I had to go to Wally World to get the hat. It was all on the way home so it only took about 2 hours I went a different way home as the Interstate was a little bothersome on the first trip I went through town it was a much better route although slightly farther. I'm glad I'm out in the country most folks just smiled and waved as this has to be an everyday occurence in Boerne, Texas. I did have one little old lady at Wally World pull up and ask if her grandson could have a ride, I declined the ride but I did let him crawl up on it and sit in the seat for a minute. The safety cops would have been proud, see there without them my heart would have loaded that toddler up and took him for a spin around the parking lot probably should have, maybe he'd want to be a farmer when he grew up. Gotta give the kids some fun once in a while even if it is a little dangerous, heck I was breaking and training horses when I was 14 course what mom don't know or at least don't admit to knowing don't hurt her.
