Man!! What a small world!!! I turn 50 on the 26 of the month. But I refuse to cut my hair. I was proud to be a hippie so many years ago, and I haven't changed so very much.

Can we all really be turning 50??? I remember when I wouldn't trust anyone over 30!!!!
Does that mean I stopped trusting myself 20 years ago??? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have the membership form sitting on my desk (it took them 6 months to find me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Is AARP worth it?

The 50 year is a nice age. A nice place to be in time. Just stop all future birthdays.

AARP sent me my membership card on my birthday last year when I turned 50. I did not join because I do not agree with their view on gun control.

Depends on where you try to use it. I'm a lot older than yoose guys (I grew up before the hippies, we were beatniks in my day! - spent my mispent youth beachcombing in California and Mexico, etc.). In my business if someone asks for a "senior citizen" discount, I tell them we have a senior citizen surcharge to compensate for all the taxes they suck up. You'd be amazed at how quickly they drop their request for special prices. Myself, I don't practice price discrimination based on age, race, sex, etc. But a lot of businesses do.

Don't know how you feel about it, but it embarrasses me to have people offer me discounts because of age. The government sends me statements saying I can go on welfare and start ripping off the younger folks (like I was ripped off). Groan. Just remember, every day we are one day closer to slipping into the abyss.

PS All you 50 year olds, are you 1/2 to the end, or more? What do you think?
