I turn the big one tomorrow

/ I turn the big one tomorrow #11
The "big one" caught me two years ago and I'm still trying to figure out why some get all worked up about it. So what if I have lived more life already than I have in front of me I'm thankful for all the water that has gone over the dam.

Over ten years ago my hair, what's left of it, turned the natural color of someone 20 years my senior so most places offering senior discounts gave them without asking.

Happy Birthday to all those out there who are passing the half century mark. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I thought the "big one" was your tractor going out of warranty. I didn't guess it was YOU! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Congratulations! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Mike:

True confessions huh??

I changed my signature line to reflect my heritage.

As far as gun control, well, in Michigan we get controlled at whatever age. Besides, old farts can't hold a heavy long gun without a tripod anyway. Cowboy style shooters, well, their belly gets in the way. "Hey Marshall Dillon, where are you??"

I think the true test of age is whenever the kids in the neighborhood get married and have kids of their own. That make you feel old. Fifty is time to start collecting the "retirement toys". You know, the ones that will keep you from getting bored when you finally retire. That is, if you can remember where you put them. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I still have my hair, well most of it. I comb it differently now. Covers the bald spot in the front. I had long hair until about a year ago. Seemes as though after I got it cut, the hair on top grew back a little or so my wife thinks. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I always had facial hair. I have a big grey and white patch right in the middle. Sort of like a racing stripe. Visiting the barber shop on a regular basis is nice. It allows me to catch up on the gossip with all the other geezers. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Another addition: (see what age does to you)

A few weeks ago, while making something for another TBYNetter, I found it harder to read the dials on the mill even with my WalMart readers on. Going to have to get DRO's with large display's so that I can see the numbers. Vernier calipers, well they just sit in the toolbox now. That has already switched to digital. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jeez, at 48 I must be the baby of the group! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif However, as my bride is fond of pointing out, I'll always be older than her! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Pete:

When you hit 50, the "bride" will become the "other half" around friends or the "old lady" when she isn't around. Same holds true for her.

You will be the "old man" and the "other half" respectively.

Trouble is, your "half" will increase in girth, while hers won't. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I've got you beat by almost 2 decades. (29 last January).

When I was your age...........

Well, I can't remember, but it was good, I think. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

This is serious.

I just noticed that 11 "registered users" are browsing this thread. Does that mean 11 old users or 11 mixed age users??

I'm one of those "mixed age users". Not quite as old as you Daryl but trying desperately to feel even younger than Hazmat. Generally, not succeeding which makes my better half think I'm acting even younger yet (downright childish, if you asked her) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh yeah, happy birthday to all you half centurians /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
