Massey Ferguson 1215, Case 801B
I've got a new Massey Ferguson 1215 tractor and I'm going to put a loader on it. I can put my cheesey homemade loader on it that came with my TX1500, but I'd like to have a better loader than this.

I'd like to hear some more real world experience. What loaders out there are worth more than you'd pay for them? I'm assuming that the dealer is going to be the most expensive option. I'm hoping to find something with good features for a lot less than the dealer would want.

To narrow the discussion, This is a 19 HP tractor with 4 wheel drive, hydrostatic transmission, and no cab.

What features have you gotten and can't now live without?
What features have you not gotten and now wished you had?

I gave all of the local dealer's the ability to sell me a loader oem or aftermarket. Woods ls 84 with 54" bucket and tooth bar was $2900 installed and rear tires filled with washer fluid, this was at a equipment dealer only they did not sell new tractors!!!! Same product at an orange dealer, loader only no installation or fluid or toothbar $3600.00 what a deal right. The blue dealer with blue NHla12 loader $4100.00 not installled and they wanted freight on top of that $250.00. The Woods ls 72 loader should be a good fit for your machine and it has a higher capacity than the oem loaders. Just my experience as having just done all of the research.

One thing to consider. When I bought my Kubota the dealer strongly sugessted getting the "skid-steer" quick attach bucket system. This was well worth the extra cost. I am constsntly switching between bucket, grapple and forks. If it is available for that size tractor definitely consider it.

When I bought my GL21 I had the guy put on a Koyker 110. I believe it was $2600. Well worth it in my opinion. I built my own toothbar since a guy I knew pretty well back then worked at a place that had a laser that could cut 1" steel. That toothbar was the best thing I added to my tractor.

My new Kioti will have one on it the day I pick it up. If you're looking aftermarket, Koyker is probably among the best. I've heard similar testimony regarding the Woods loaders too.

From what I've seen, that is a pretty good deal as far as a dealer is concerned. The aftermarket loader do seem the way to go.

I've only talked to the local Koyker guys so far. They are going to get back to me with a price. I've looked up Woods and Buhler online. I'm not too impressed with the specs of a buhler.

Koyker definately has the best name recognition. I was originally worried that the name would cost some, but from what I've seen, the cost is pretty comparable to the competition.

My area is a limited market. Grizzly and Woods were my only local option as far as aftermarket is concerned. Westerndorf and Koyker were 200 miles plus from me. I am very pleased thus far with the performance and speed of the Woods loader. The woods loader is a curved boom loader which I am partial to.

I noticed they really pitch that feature on the Woods web site.

What's the advantage of the Curved Boom? Why is it you like it so much?

Koyker also offers the curved boom now if that is what you are looking for. All Koyker loaders use the skidsteer attachment system already, so if you ever buy a skidsteer, your bucket, forks, or whatever will interchange. Just my opinion. I have a Koyker, and much prefer it over the BushHog on my other tractor or the Woods we used to have. Price is good as well.

Access.

Something I hadn't thought about. Glad you mentioned it.

Holy Cow!!

Westendorf are pretty proud of their loaders. I think the price they quoted me via e-mail is more than what the dealer wants to charge me installed and everything.

This actually brings me to a more general question from those of you that have bought a new aftermarket loader... Do the prices quoted usually include the mounting kit or is the subframe/mounting kit an additional cost on top of the $2k to $3K price that is usually quoted on the websites.

Usually the whole shootin match brackets and all. Everywhere I got pricing they priced everything installed.

That's what I was hoping. I think I can manage to afford the prices that I am seeing on most of them.

My current loader is kind of a "permanent mount" I know I could take it off, but it doesn't look particularly easy.

For those of you that have quick attach/detach loaders, how often do you take them off and put them on? It seems there really are few things that you'd need the loader off for, and it seems any rear mounted implement is only helped by having some front ballast: aka loader.

The reason I ask is to determine just how important the quick attach feature is.

In the 23 years I've had my '73 IH 454 with aftermarket Frey Quick-tach loader, I've removed it twice. First, when I re-painted the tractor, to match the then new loader, and again a few years later when I re-painted the loader.
