Vista on a new PC ends up being much easier for most folks as compared to upgrading to Vista on an older PC. If you are ready for a new system just get Vista....it's not the worst OS ever or anything....I would hate to be stuck with an older crappy PC just because of a perceived issue with Vista.

I've heard that vista is still having problems with digital media rights.. etc.. ?

I'm in the sound / entertainment business.. any pc that won't let me copy my own work is a no-no...

I've have not run into any problems with DRM other than the newer version of Media Player > 10 (this is on XP as well) won't let you back up your license files for music that you have purchased. To get around this I usually convert the protected files to an unprotected MP3 or rip it to a CD and then put it back in the format that I want.

I've been running Vista since April of '07. I like it, even though my laptop needs more RAM as it only has 1 gig. I will probably bump it to 4 here before long even though Vista (like XP) will only recognize 3.2 Gig.
