Ice in tires

I do not see the reasoning behind using vegetable oil for tire ballast. What would you say the benefits are?

It's slicker than snot.
If it leaked out near water it could be all sorts of trouble.
Just add some females...

Well in that case I'm going to recommend baby oil for ballast. LOL.

Limiting the corrosion I suspect..

And if you get a flat far from home at least you can cook a road kill squirrel if you get hungry..

I would think the vegetable oil would make the likelihood of the wheel spinning on the tire a possibility.

I reckon if it was inside a tube there wouldn't be a problem. But if left tubeless I would think it possible to seem into the bead area and lubricate it.

Actually my tires do have heavy duty nail resistant tubes installed at the dealer in VT. Maybe they add tubes to all of them IDK..

Soluble oil will alleviate your concerns about water corrosion.

Rimguard- aka beet juice. In my tires in Maine. Never freezes -20F. Never a problem. Doesn't corrode.
