Ice - Sand avalable ?

Around here 'reject sand' is $5/yd at the pit. If you have room for a sand pile it is easy enough to refill 5 gallon buckets in the summer when the sand is dry. The bagged sand they have at stores runs about $5/50lbs IIRC... or $200/yd for what is surely 'reject sand'.

A pair of ice grippers for his boots will go a long way.I have a dedicated pair set-up for when its icy.

We were talking about those today, as his wife wears them. I know him fairly well, but I'll leave it to her to "sell" him on putting those on..... he's a bit embarrassed about needing help getting up.

Today ended well, so that's the important thing.

Definitely cheaper in bulk. Where I have space to store that is far enough out of sight that I'd only remember after we have a foot of snow on the ground though..... that lousy memory of mine being what it is !

With two wood stoves on the go all winter, I always have at least one bucket of ashes handy. Even though I have 4 wheel drive on the Jeep, I only have 2 foot drive on my body and one ear that doesn't work too good, so my sense of balance is a little off.

On GrandMa's farm, a couple of scoops from the ash bucket always did the trick...... excess went on the garden, as all they burned was local wood, no scrap/garbage.

I shouldn't even joke..... Today, there is probably a laundry-list of govt forms to fill out, if you want to spread wood-ash on your property.

I do it anyway. It is my property and my wood ash and I will do as I please with it. It is also my ***** that will be hurting if I slip and fall.
