/ Ice Storm 2012 #21
I spent most of my adult life in california, and have gone though mant earthquakes, never needed a generator, But I have always had a 6500w gen.
and when I moved back to my childhood home, My brother laughed his A** off at me because I had a geerator and 6 mo. food supply, after the ice storm of 09, he STOPED laughing. he has gone out and bought 2 3500w gens for himself, guess who's laughing now.

... With a "full" tank of propane, about 9 days continuous running at half load. After the grid is back up, it's a seamless transfer. The maintenance is horrible, :D oil change every year, or 200 hours whichever comes first. ... Mark

I have a similar setup behind 1000 Gal of propane, but take a look at the itty-bitty oil sump in your genny motor: you may find you have to add oil a lot more often than you need to refill you propane tank. ...maybe every 50-100 hours of runtime.

I've often wondered why the oil sumps weren't larger...... if not, maybe an upgrade kit should be avail........something like an add-on to be plumbed into the drain
