A good indicator that it's going to be a difficult day is when you wake up to the sound of the County sanding truck stuck in the ditch at the end of the driveway.
You know when that little voice in you pleads for a rope half-way down a black diamond ski hill? That's what the 2' descent over 20' from my front step to the driveway sounded like this morning. I couldn't place a foot without first sprinkling sand in my path.
It took me twenty minutes and a pail of sand to get out the lane to see what the fuss was about. Then another County truck, a GM 4X4 equipped for sanding, backed a half mile from Forfar and up and over the hill, freeing the larger truck to continue on its way. Amazing how fast a well-driven GM pickup can go in reverse.
