Ida Incoming

There is no comparison between Katrina and Ida other than magnitude. FEMA was asleep for Katrina. They had not pre-positioned any emergency supplies, evacuation efforts were minimal, and the infrastructure had not been upgraded in decades. The freaking flood control pumps flooded and shut down! 1800 people died. Cops gunning down black men was business as usual. Sixteen years later, NOLA has done a lot to clean up their mess.

I can't comprehend what it was like for first responders or victims in any big disaster, including hurricanes. However, I do know that SAR teams were sent to help after Katriana and at least one veteran Maine Game Warden retired after his experience. (I didn't know him, he'd changed districts before I moved here but everybody here spoke highly of him... including guys he summonsed.)
His job was SAR but there was nobody there to cover his back and he had some scary situations, including one where his dog drove somebody off. It's a bad situation all around, and all comes back to the statement in post #51.

You watch the “news” a lot, I can tell.

I hate looters but I'm going to need a reference for that BILLION DOLLARS of looting.

Remember that your argument will be much more believable if you stick to the facts.View attachment 712077
I don’t give a damn if you believe me or not, but I lived through it. Since I,m stuck at home with no electricity, water or cable, and have to use a half dead phone to reply to you,I am unable to go looking up all the references that you want. But every business in New Orleans was looted and a majority of the homes. Everything from the Ronald McDonald house to the Superdome.

Over $1,000,000.00 of Cadillacs were stolen from just one dealership.
Looters used forklifts to open burglar proof doors.

You couldn’t even imagine what it is like to be stranded in a police station by yourself for days with no communication or electricity in 98degree heat. With flooding outside and no transportation, watching shopping malls up in flames and hearing gunshots getting closer all the time.

And I would be banned from TBN if I replied to the poster who said “police shooting black people, just as usual”.

Battery almost dead, can’t say half of what I want to.

@tallyho8 Don’t concern yourself with someone else’s ramblings, brother. Take care of business.

My refugees arrived an hour ago from Houma. My niece and her boys, aged 5 and 7. A big sigh of relief for our family.

I can't imagine what that is like. Hang in there!

We got stuck at our place for a week because of flood, it was just a nuisance as we still had power though the cell towers ran out of power. The weather was cool, we had wood to heat with. Nothing like what happens in those hurricanes.
