idea for finish mower....

I have a 5' side discharge finish mower. Has anybody ever tried blocking the discharge chute to make a mulcher of sorts? I was thinking of mulching the few leaves that are still around my property.

I think it would plug up.

Is it a side or rear discharge? If it's on the side, maybe keep going over it, pushing everything in the same direction. Running over it multiple times should yield the same results.

The 60" side discharge belly mower that was under my YM240 had an optional mulching plate. I installed it every fall to shred leaves, small branches, pine cones, etc. But understand that blocking off the discharge is only half the job. For meaningful results, you should have mulching blades installed as well.
