Looks like a good simple fix. Just a few thoughts though. As you said I will not hang you for the straps, I use them also.
I would use 5 of them though. 2 on front, 2 on the rear, then put he FEL bucket in FLOAT, and one strap over it to secure it and pinch the rail board you made. This will allow the trailer to flex and the tractor to wiggle a little without putting undue stress on your trailers rail.
