Ideas for the land in front of the house?

How about a giant wind farm! Everyone loves those big blades twirling, thrumming and casting flickering shadows, from what I hear.

100 head of cattle? Some Saguaro cacti?

Maybe a teepee too!

An auto salvage might be easier

I think a nice high rise apartment building or a WalMart would look great out in the vacant land. It would be a great way to get rid of all of that "nothingness" you have now. :thumbsup: :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

I would contain myself with the wind farm idea. Nobody should have that much pleasure.
The grass idea sounds best. Do you have a grass variety that can grow with that little annual rainfall?
Auto salvage could be a money maker??

This is a picture from last year after the grass came in on the side yard. This is just some Scotts brand from Home Depot. But I think for a field that large, I would look into something that might require less water, but still be nice, etc.

I think I would consider doing some decorative hardscape work with the rocks on the pile. Make a stacked wall or something.

I might think about an oasis approach rather than an expanse of grass. A small pool kept fresh with a water line will draw birds and other critters, rattlesnakes maybe? Have some lush greenery growing around the pool. You have room and water for several oases so you could create different vegetation types at different pools.

Do you plan on any gardening?

Your visual horizon can be manipulated with features in the foreground and background using different heights.

Great ideas... I would LOVE to put some type of pond up here. A nice big pond liner, and a water line run in it to keep it fresh and topped off. Wonder what type of evaporation I would be seeing up here. Surrounding it with some cool vegetation and grass is a great idea.

Dry crops grow well up here, you can't see out in the distance too far in that picture but it is all winter wheat and hay out there on the bench below us, and some off to our east. I'd be definitely interested in some cash crops, or something to help feed some cattle when we get there. I might do that off to the west on another 20 acre parcel.

I do like the ideas of using the land and water for profit.
