ideas for weighing down auger?

A neighbor of mine had an old post hole digger and he welded a pipe about 2' long onto the boom; parallel of course. I believe it was 2.25" or 2.5" ID. Then when we used it, we inserted a 6' pipe of 2" OD into it so it stuck quite a ways out behind the digger and we hung two old 75# sash weights on it. 150# of weight that far back would definitely push that thing into the ground even though the auger was old and very worn.

If you have that many posts, look into a down pressure kit for your auger. That means you won't have to get off the tractor or need help.
