Ideas to add liquid fertilizer to irrigation

/ Ideas to add liquid fertilizer to irrigation #11
I have the water reel for irrigation and am thinking of implementing an idea to apply liquid nitrogen. Here's my plan so far ... I have a 300 gallon plastic tote to carry the fertilize from the coop to home ... I think I can tap into the brass discharge side of the pto pump ... have the tank on a stand with a hose bibb and run from that to the tapped in brass fitting allowing the suction to pull the liquid fertilize.

Of course I will have to mark the tank, use the hose bib to control the flow of the fertilize, mark off an acre take my best quess on a setting and then watch the tank lower itself from suction to adjust the flow with the hose bibb to get the needed amount of fertilizer per acre.

What you think about this ...

Fertigation is kinda Spendy!

It ran $56 an acre to cover it and under the present conditions I'm the only one locally with bermuda right at 6-8" ... I'll cut in 15 days. I sold square bales yesterday at $8 a bale and I look for the prices to go up come January.

Blue River, I am drilling a well to fertilize out of a large holding pond. Have you ever had a problem irrigating with water that was too cold? I am going to use a water reel as well, but have been told by several hay farmers that the cold water will stunt the growth of the hay.

most use a proportion pump (some times called a metering pump),to feed the chemical into the water stream, and if out of a well stream or pond, you may need a state permit for chemicalgation and a approved back flow device that meets state requirements, (your coop or chemical supplyer many have all the info you need), some may even rent pumps,

you will have to have some idea of the amount of liquid you want to feed into the water stream and the gallons that are discharged, so one can get the right amounts on, (one bonus is if need to be one can many times "water down" the chemical to help meet the requirements depending on the flow rates of the pumps,

Agricultural Injection Metering Pumps - Jaeco Fluid Systems, Inc. some good info it looks like on this page,
