Idling?

I have reread all the posts. I'm pretty sure I understood the question. Correct me if I am wrong.
OP's first post is in contradiction with your answer.

I'll step down from this post since I seem not to understand.
It was not my intent to offend you.

Op has to spread manure. Op is using 2 tractors. 1 to load the spreader, 1 to spread manure.

Op wants to know if he should shut down the 'M7040' while the 'MF255' is spreading.

Personally, I wouldn't shut down......let it run for that kind of chore.

Your answer leads OP to shoveling the manure from the barn to the field, because it may take 5 minutes to load or spread.

I am not really sure what chore can be done in 5 minutes after dismounting a tractor. I have no 5 minute chores for my tractor. If it only takes five minutes to do I probably wouldn't have started the tractor at all.

For me, it's something like this:
I'm mowing, plowing snow, brush cutting and I see some downed branches I want to remove...or a couple low hanging branches I need to lop off...a rock or dog's toy I need to move.
So, not "chores" (a planned activity), but just simple quick unplanned tasks that may interfere with the actual chore I am doing.
Now, sometimes that simple unplanned task turns into a chore...then I shut down the tractor.
How is that determined? Like Don87 wrote...it depends.
How's that sound?
