LMAO...This always reminds me of the people that complain that if they were to ever win a big lottery jackpot (or gambling, or inheritance, or....) then the government would take a huge portion of it.

Dave, I thank the people every day who make their voluntary tax contributions to the state lottery, they help keep my taxes lower! Then again, I actually work for a living (contrary to what some might believe).

But I just love it when people who win their lotteries and then end up filing for bankruptcy because they are so darn stupid that they can't figure out the consequences . . . and they are the same ones who quit the job that pays them $10/hour & gives them health insurance so they can get a job that pays $11/hour but no benefits . . . and they are the same ones who actually play the lottery to the tune of $20, $40 or MORE $$$ per week and actually think they will win . . . and and and

Yea, I know. I am a cynical blunt jerk sometimes. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No rent, I will own the whole thing. And no residents either, my little hideaway from everything.

Actually what I would do for fun is build about 15 homes on one street, a very long street and rent them out. 9 grand a month income would be nice.

My home would be on the end of the street, not huge, but big enough. Work out room, big office, chefs kitchen, big barn, horses, cats, the whole house networked so that TBN would be the home page on all computers, and a BX 23 for the wall paper.

I always get a kick out of the people who only play the lottery when the jackpot gets over $100 million.
Whether it's ten million or two hundred million, it's still more than I have now...

Of course, my odds of losing are the same either way, so I put my money towards some that will actually have a return on it!

I save about 600 a year on taxes from the lotto, I play about 300.00, not counting the tickets I actually hit a number or two on, so I still win.

The boat in the next county helps me out too! Now if I could just get a piece of land down the road to it, and put up a hotel or something.

I still pay school tax, but I dont have kids in school.

I used to be in financial services, and I had my securities license, I know where and how to make money work for me. I am 20 years from retiring, and I love my career, would not change that, but the lovely Mrs. Danny would quit just because she works for a turkey right now. She could manage my homes for rent..

I actually lived in your dream neighborhood. There was a very humble looking older guy down in Tennessee from whom I rented a brand new house. He lived in a humble house himself and wore old well worn clothing. He drove an old car. His only luxury were two 40-50 hp Ford tractors on which he liked to play. I'll call it play, because at the end of the day, I couldn't tell that he made any improvement on the land he was grading. He didn't seem to be too bright. One time he was out on his tractor grading behind some houses when I waived for him to come over to talk. Well he drove right between the houses out to the road grading up the established lawns on way. I pointed out what he did, and he just snickered in his usual way.

Anyway, this guy owned about 60 rental houses in one neighborhood. The houses were all the same and sat on about an acre of land each. They were about 1,000 sq. ft. and had single car garages. He rented them out for $300/mo about ten years ago. He was building about 2-3 of these houses a year, slowly populating a good size neighborhood. Okay, somehow this simpleton was a millionare, but wait he wasn't really a simpleton; he sat on the boards of the local bank and the water company.

the millionaire next door, or in this case, all the next doors.

Knew a chicken farmer once, looked like somewhere I would not put my dog, A shopping mall now stands on his property, and he was very wealthy before that.

It all comes down to what makes one happy and content. Money can not do that, it has to be what is inside. Put me in a tie and coat, I am miserable, jeans and tshirt or even slacks and collar, I can live.
