This is a picture of the sttering column. You can see, that for the rubber boot to fit properly, the steering column needs to come down. I haven't done any looking into this yet. Any ideas ?

Mark usually it is the dash that needs to be bent up. That is typical on those models as the dash is not very ridgid.

They are correct. Mine looks the same, although I have R4.

This picture is of the dash. Some of the items are of course very obvious as to what they do. At the bottom corner(s) of the dash there are a black knob (left) and a red knob (right)
the knob on the right has a lable above it that show a fuel pump with line through it. I assume this is the fuel shut off control and is used to shut the engine down.
So what is the black one for ? If I pull it, it also will shut the engine down. the head of the knob itself has a symbol on it, but I can't make it out.
To the right of the steering column there is 2 holes. 1 is labeled for the "glo plug" and if you hold the key to the left long enough, a glow starts to appear inside the hole. Is there supposed to some kind of a lense etc. over this hole. And does this slow glow thing sound like normal operating?
AND, what is the 2nd hole (to the right) for ?

A few notes from skimming my manual...

DT = Dual Traction[4wd]
ID plate, as you found, is on the left side tranny.
Serial number is on right side tranny, near top
Engine serial number is on right side engine near top front

Engine is 19hp, 0.927l 3-cyl
PTO is 16hp

Ag tire size is 12.4-16 rear, 6-12 front

She is 106" long, 53" wide, and 75" tall with exhaust upright(I turned mine down flat).

She weighs 1565lbs

In top gear high range, you can go 11.62mph!

2600rpm on the engine gives full 540rpm on PTO

The engine only holds 3.3qts of 10-30w oil. Tranny/hydraulic is a whopping 19qts.

Thew red knob at the bottom right of dash kills it. The black knob at the bottom left is a compression release

The knob on the right is the fuel shut off.
The one on the left is a decompresion knob. It opens exhaust the valves.
The glow indicator sounds like it is working right. There is no cover for it.
I think the other hole was for an optional horn button.

Your info was invaluable. The SN. was exactly where you said. The seriel # on mine is. B8200D-51319
But, I suspect that I am not understanding the # sequence correctly, because the two set of seriel #'s that I have to compare with, don't list any year starting with 51319. Tractor Tips.com lists a SN of 10934 for 1982 and 52602 for 1983. So does that mean mine falls into an 82 year?
The 2001 Hot Line Farm Equipment Guide list a SN beginning # of 50001 for a 1982 and 51644 FOR 1983. Which again would possibly make mine fall into the 1982 year.
