I've also seen stuff curl up and take out the tire valve stems. Then, it's about walking home. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
See, you've been LUCKY so far! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's what valve stem protectors are for..

I have seen that too.. BTDT, got the T-shirt.. 2 weeks ago. right rear tire. Log vs. Valve stem, BOOM. calcim chloride fill shower. limp home. 2 @#$#!**@# WEEKS!!! Now this! GRR!

I think it's time to either armor plate this thing, or just keep it out of the trees (which is a shame, since that's 1/2 of the reason I got it!

Every time I mention to my dealer that I'd like some armor plating from NH, he tells me I should buy a bulldozer. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Net: you get what you pay for... these little tractors are extremely useful but you have to be very, very careful using them.

See, I don't see why I should have to be careful to not knock the hydrostat filter off with a dead tree. IMHO, it's a poor design to have that fragile of a thing that close to peril.

I'll build up some armor, and share my design with you all.. it's sure to be ugly, but very functional!

Re: If it wasn\'t for bad luck... i\'d have none at all.

I think that is a design feature.. .. that is.. it's designed to be a source of income for NH dealers doing repair services. Same with those darn pesky wires run all over the underside of the tractor for weeds and brush to pull out and then leave your new 30K$ tractor stranded.. etc.

KrisHansen,
Just like those extreme 4x4 guys who do the rock climbing, those vehicles are highly modified for the intended environment. You may not be done armoring and bulletproofing this thing until it looks like a skidder!
I know that sounds like the money pit, but with luck you'll get there.

Re: If it wasn\'t for bad luck... i\'d have none at all.

Well, I do know that I am going to build bash plates for the hydro lines, they are WAY too fragile and exposed... I just spent $200 to fix this little problem.. I want to guarantee that it NEVER happens again..

I LOVE my New Holland, it's a tough little tractor, but, I need to make it able to withstand the kind of use I throw at it.

That same dealer will tell you your tractor will easily pull a brush hog that will cut 2 or 3" saplings... the same saplings that will snag stuff in the underbelly. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
