Its interesting Jay how we drop into the low 40's or upper 30's at night, our days when the sun is out are typically in the 50's, sometimes the 60's here in the winter and then just right up the road but at over 6000' in elevation rise there is 20 plus feet of snow covering the ground. We are talking maybe 50 miles. We do freeze a couple of times which is kinda of fun as the dogs water bowls get about a 1/8" of ice covering the surface. Isn't the thumb supposed to have some brutal weather?

We're having a winter that's like a central/northern California spring time: cool at night and in mornings but warming to 40-70 degrees and sunny in the afternoons.

Hope to maybe go down and try this in my garden this afternoon, riding the tractor in my birthday suit.

It's a 1951 soil ripper. Details are in the General/Attachments thread on this topic.

Today is going to be one wild weather wide. We're headed right back to the deep freeze. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Here in California it finally quit. We had a creek overflow just up the street from our home. No damage to any property, but it was big enough to float some 15" diameter logs onto the road.

The day after it stopped, it was nice to see three of us with tractors (my JD, an 8N and a 'Bota) working together for the common good to clean up the silt and mud and get ready for the next storm. When the rainy season is over, the creek will need to be cleaned out with a backhoe.

One of the neighbors told me that California Fish and Game won't let the county clean the creek because it is a "Salmon Habitat". Right, it's usually dry, so all we need for salmon is water. Salmon would need legs to get this far from the ocean. The environmentalists are out of control.
