You're trying to change the topic from you saying if the world rotated the way we say it does he'd land to the east, when, in fact, he'd land to the west. I haven't tried to do the math to calculate the exact distance, but it would vary, based on the height of the buildings on shore, among other things. I do know from personal experience that the shore disappears in less than 100 miles. I'm guessing you guys have a comeback lined up to explain that?But I do know if the earth were a sphere at almost 8000 miles in diameter the pythagorean theorem would prove the you shouldn't see boats or buildings beyond 50 miles. This isn't the case.
