Buying Advice If you could only choose hydro or cab what option would you choose for your tractor?

If the choice is one, Cab with air here too. Down here, if you get a cab, the air is a must. Opening windows just don't hack it at all. Too much dust, wasps, heat and humidity. But I'm getting old. :)

When I was young all the tractors we had didn't have a cab. Spent thousands of hours disking, plowing, baling hay and loading it on the hay wagon, and winter time don't even want to think of that. That was in Minnesota. Dust, hay chaff, freezing cold, hot sun you name it. When I got my own place didn't even think of a tractor cab. Had to give up that place and farm equipment because of the X. Finally a couple years ago I got another small farm and am lots older and here in Kentucky it gets hot and late summer it is dry. I had enough discomfort when is was younger so cab, heat, ac and HST was mandatory. I still have the small bx23 without a cab but it's mostly used for mowing and ac and cold refreshments is always close. I say it depends on how tuff you are if you can live without a cab and all the comforts or if your old and a wuss like me and spend the money on one.

A cab is the best way to go IMHO.

I think it depend on size and expected use. I wouldn't replace the hydro on my L3301 with a cab unless you put a gun to my head. I do way to much loader work around low hanging branches. I'm currently looking at getting a second tractor that will most likely have neither, since my primary use would be the drawbar, moving carts of brush(and maybe a small spreader) filled by the L3301. I'm not even focused on getting it with a loader!

I have a cab on the CTL and it's nice in harsh weather. I like open station in nice weather. I have HST on the tractor and it's nice too. It really depends on the intended use. I don't want a cab on the tractor. It just isn't suitable for what I use it for. My tractor is used almost exclusively in the woods or on and off use. Heat and AC on the CTL is really great though.
