I need to do a variety of projects, yard leveling, road scraping and beveling, snow removal, etc, and not alot of either but... My question is if you could only own one would you buy a box scraper or rear blade. Note it will be mounted on a L48 Kubota.

thank in advance

The grader box!! Why? Because of the weight. The blade is much lighter and will not dig in when you need it to. I tried a blade and found that it bounces along the ground unless you have very loose dirt, or snow. On the other hand,. I have used the grader box to scrape snow for several years. The only drawback is you have to push the snow off to the side when it builds up too much.
With blades in the front and back or the grader box, you can use it for a bulldozer also, when necessary. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Rich .
Pre supposing that you have an Fel and tooth bar . I'd go for the rear blade. Of course that depends on the blade . I went with the heaviest blade I could get . I also got the optional end plates . Mind you now You asked if I could only own one .
I have snow to consider . And at the time iI purchased I had to make a choice between a rear blade and box blade for financial reasons . John

I have both and I never use the rear blade. I suppose if I didn't have a plow I'd use it for snow.

I would go with the boxblade myself.

Get the box. I bought a blade and while it is useful I have also rented a box and have really wished I'd bought that. I had the same choice to make and made the wrong decision... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif One of these days I'll buy a box scraper and I doubt I'll ever use my blade again after that.

Box. no question. In clay, a rear blade is near non productive, even spreading piles. A rear blade also lacks rippers to break up the area one wants to move.

I too would buy the boxblade. Midwest bb looks good.

Get the boxblade. Make sure it is heavy, very heavy if possible and with a hinged rear blade. I have a rear blade too, and I have not used it in over 6 years.

Let's see here...... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Rich doesn't have anything and is wondering what to buy. Some guys are saying buy a blade, some say a box.

Chris has a blade that he doesn't want and would buy a boxblade. Chris - You REALLY should have suggested that Rich get a blade! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Maybe something could be worked out here?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
