I for one like the sight glass. Lets me quickly check the level without messing with the fill cap. In my case, it's under the seat. If you have a small tractor, you can probably get by with using only half the dye in the container. I just used half for the last change on my JD2320 and have the other half left for the next change.

I used the JD dye;just make sure to tell your Kubota dealer,mine thought I had put ATF in it.Well worth the couple bucks it cost.

I pull the dipstick, wipe it off and then dance around to find the correct light angle where I will be able to read the oil level. Redip, go to that "correct" position and read the level.

If you heat the end of the dipstick red and plunge it into water it'll stay black and make the oil easier to read..........M

I have a sight glass and I like it. I can check the oil level as I'm walking by. I can understand that it would be a pain with a backhoe attached.

My John Deere Z820 A Zero Turn has sight glasses on the wheel motors but, you have to stand on your head with a flashlight to see them.

I dumped some of that JD red dye into the hydraulic fluid on my Kubota L3200. The crystal clear Super UDT2 & sight glass were a poor combo. You couldn't tell if it was overfilled or underfilled. Heck, you could barely see the line when it was in the middle of the site glass. Need to get some more for my new L4060. It has a dipstick instead of sight glass, but its still a challenge.
