I'll take another look at the euro JD website and see specs and all for the tractors. I don't see why they are nicer than the ones here. A moonroof big deal. Our tractors here have a lot of nice, well built features. Gotta love that 6415 I know I do. If we had a euro model I bet it would be nearly identical to the US model except the PTO and maybe some of the transmissions offered. I really don't know how good they are as I have never seen one in person. All I know is that the new 7000 series is one of the nicest tractors I have seen same with the track tractors. I agree with you about the part of talking about tractors we've used then making judgements about them. For once I think we agree! Don't worry I won't quit. Ok, I looked again at the 5000 and 6000 series. Here are some of the points I would like to talk about for the US model 6620 against the UK 5820. The exterior of the tractors is similar but the UK JD has a little different cab styling like as you said like the US 5020 series. The insides are similar however same seat and side control panel for fan controls, lights, PTO, engine speed etc. They both can be equipped with the Power Quad and PQ+ transmissions except the US version offers more like syncro plus, Auto Quad, and the brand new IVT. UK and US both feature the perma clutch. The engines are both turbo and both produce 90 engine horsepower. I am unsure of the UK PTO hp. The US models have better hydraulics. The wheelbase of the UK model is a little shorter than that of the US version. Both the US and UK are made in Germany! The UK features HMS II which the US does not have. I guess I was wrong about them being the same but they are kind of similar yet different. All in all I feel the US version is better suited to the needs of US farmers. John Deere I hope knows what they are doing when selecting what features go where. I don't always agree with the quality of some John Deere products. The US model is very very nice and I enjoy driving them when I can at work. If Deere added all the features to a single US model I feel the price would go up to a point that farmers would not pay for a moon roof and what have you. Woodbeef, I am sorry if I came across as an **** in my last post. I just feel the US models are adequate to what we in the US need for the most part. Yes some of those features would be nice to have. The combines are also slightly different and they have a model over there that reminds me of a New Holland TR-96. Looks like it could sell good here if it had a little more power because people liked the TR-96 and it will actually out perform a Deere 9500. I would like to hear any opinions you may have on what I just said.

I think you mean the NA spec 6420 vs the 5820. The Mannheim built 5020 are a mixture of 6020 and the smaller 5010 pieces. It was built to be a 6020 basically,but in a smaller package for livestock farmers who want a framed tractor for loader work,but in a smaller more manoverable package then the 6020 series affords. The cab is more a hybrid ,the tractor is quite a bit shorter,lighter,and with less hydraulic flow,lift, and options especially in the tranny department. But is not meant to compete head on with the 6020. It replaces the badge-engineered JD 3010 series that was sourced from Renault. The 6420 in Europe produces 110 hp on the engine,and this would be the tractor to compare heads up with the NA spec 6420. Like I was trying to do earlier when I stated we do not get the same thing over here. The main [censored] I have with deere is that they have certain options available in Europe but not over here. They only need to make them available if someone wants one,if they don't no big deal. Why the do not amazes me,afterall they all are built in Germany,and the parts are already there. As for the moon roof.......drive a tractor with one for a while and you'll see what I mean........
Sorry,sir but I know diddly about combines.....so I can not answer your questions about them. Deere does have a 80 series of combines over that are bigger than the ones here,but then again all the manufacturers do over there. Funny thing is they also offer smaller combines for the market too,then are available here.
I only know about what I use here or might use in the future. I figure the more I know now the better off I am before I plunk my $$$ down on something that might not be that great, even if it is painted my favorite color. Most of my info on tractors is first hand,but I do have many friends world wide that answer my questions. These friends range from guys like you on the dgs,to farmers,dealers,mechanics,importers,manufaturers' employees to journalists. In today's ag-world you have to be informed,and buy what will get the job done no matter what color it is or who built it!! Unless of course you inherited big $$$ or hit the lottery!! Like the old joke about the farmer that hit the millions.......he said "I'll keep on farming until all the money is gone"........

I might have been mistaken but I can't remember sorry. I was wrong about the 5020 and 6020 and doing the research I knew I was wrong right away. That 80 series combine is huge even larger than the new 60 series in the US. About where you come from in Canada, Mazda used to build a car called the MX-3. I use one as my daily driver and really like it and they were offered in the US until 1995 but in Canada they went until 1996. I wish I could get a 1996 or a European 1998 model. Yep some things are better in other countries than in North America. Any other things that the UK has we don't for tractors. I remember seeing those 3000 series Deeres. They were ugly. Do you know how relaible they are? I know nothing about them. Sorry if I judged you a little to soon about the whole JD thing. I did not mean to offend you at all.

The Renault sourced JD tractors had a so-so reputation,just like Renault in general. France,the UK,and Denmark like the brand. The rest of Europe is lackluster on Renault tractors. Maybe Claas can change this,I'm not sure. At least I think they look better in Claas colors!!

The Mazda MX-3s were built in Hofu, Japan. I think that is the town but not sure. Most Mazda cars were built in Hofu. I would like to go to Canada and buy a MX-3 over there as I am close to Canada being in Minnesota and they have low milage compared to US ones. The only difference is that the Canadian models have daytime running lights, metric dashboard, and no automatic seatbelts. The paperwork would be a bear though. I know some Toros have a Renault motor in them. I think they even sold cars here in North America for a short time.

Paperwork isn't bad at all yellowsocks. I bought a pickup from Canada a few years ago and it was a piece of cake. A couple of pieces of paper to fill out and that's it.

Could you please tell me how you went about doing so. Do you just tell the DMV that it's a Canadian vehicle and you need it regestered in the US? I am guessing all the saftey equipment is there because cars shipped to Canada are basically the same as the US. I would be interested. Thanks for any info.
