Well, we pulled it off.
In whole, things went pretty well.
We received several kudos from performers, vendors as well as the public. The dancers/vendors said the venue we setup was one of the very best they've had. They couldn't believe this was our first public event, let alone a powwow.
We synchronized the lighting of the bonfire and fireworks. That was a big hit. The bonfire was about 30' tall by 30' wide and we doused good with diesel to get it going. As soon as we torched the fire, we simultaneously started the fireworks. Lots of "ooohs" and "ahhhs" from the croud seeing both.
There's a herd of buffalo on the land and that was a big hit for many as well.
We had rain/drizzle most of the day on Saturday but still drew several hundred (I don't have the count yet) people. Sunday was nicer weather and drew about the same attendence.
Electric was a bit of an issue. We setup a 30 amp service outside for some of the vendors to plug in lights for their tents as well as 2 mercury lights we setup for area lighting. Well, they started plugging in their campers, roasters, coffee pots, TV's... and it obviously couldn't handle it.
Had a bit of a scare Sunday when one of the performers (an 11 year old boy) got pretty sick. We called in the paramedics and they got things taken care of.
I'll post some pics when I get them.
