That's one feature I always thought would be nice on a tractor with filters that hang in precarious places... a filter bypass valve. I've seen lots of water systems that have them... bypass sytem, change filter, un-bypas to purge, tighten up, and then go.
Would be nice in emergencies.. twist the bypass and go.
Another thought would be a blank bypass 'screw on'.. I.I.. a low profile 1" cap that just dumped the fluid straight thru, just was very small and easy to carry.. that way you bust an oring leak on the filter.. or crunch the filter, just pop this baby on and go.
( could work for engine oil filter too.. in extreme emergency cases.. )
