Is the purpose of ignore to keep a particular persons post from being displayed on your computer?

You will be able to see that someone on your Ignore list has made a post, but you wont be able to see what they wrote. You will see all replies. The easiest way to see this is to try it. You can always remove the person from your Ignore list.

You can't put Moderators on an Ignore list.
