You left one out! Deere built a V-8 in the mid 80's. It ended up in the 8850 4WD. Big power, and not nearly big enough of a fuel tank. It was a HOG. It was replaced with a 6 banger in the next model series. There's still a few "Kinze" 5020 V-8 Cummins conversions around too. They were probably the best V8 tractor by virtue of the fact that the Cummins V8 was the better choice of engine at that time.

A pic I found of an 8850....

Also found a website that sold/sells a kit to put a Cummins I6 855 series engine.

We owned a 70's era 1468 V-8 until Dad sold the farm a couple years back. Tons of power but really needed 4WD to put the power down. Hard to keep the front end on the ground even with the case weights. We did manage to rip the hitch off our IH moldboard plow with it one spring. Would not have believed that if I did'nt have to fix it. Engine was good but needed lifters adjusted more than normal. Twin stacks pouring fire & smoke was something to see until we had the fuel pump turned back to factory. Original owner had it opened up a good bit. Overall it was a pretty good horse.
