IH 434 gears grinding when shifting

Are you changing gears with the clutch pedal pushed all the way down? My old International is a lot more likely to grind the gears when the pedal is all the way down as opposed to being pushed down just to the first stage i.e. about half way.

I think I was doing that in the beginning and now that I realize what I was doing wrong it still grinds when I push the clutch half to the gear position
